Ontario government consultation on target benefits

On September 1, 2023, the Ministry of Finance released a second consultation document on proposed regulations necessary for implementing a permanent target benefit framework for pensions in Ontario.

The proposed framework is designed to strengthen governance, improve transparency and equity, and support long-term plan sustainability for employers and members.

In response to stakeholder feedback from the first consultation document, the revised set of proposals are now being consulted on, and the consultation also provides additional details on some of the elements addressed in the previous paper.
